Our team works with dogs of all breeds, ages, and experience levels. Training is customized to your dog’s temperament and your goals, with an emphasis on clear communication and skills you can maintain long-term. We don’t just train dogs, we teach owners how to handle and reinforce obedience so progress lasts.
We regularly help families address issues such as:
- Pulling on leash
- Jumping on guests
- Aggression or reactivity (program-dependent)
- Lack of recall (coming when called)
- Excessive barking and overexcitement
- Puppy behavior challenges and structure at home
OUR DOG TRAINING PROGRAMS
General Dog Obedience Training
Our obedience programs focus on practical commands and household manners that make everyday life easier. Depending on your program, training can include skills like sit, down, place, heel, recall, and “off” for jumping and other unwanted behaviors. This is a great fit for families who want better control, consistency, and calmer routines at home and in public.
Board and Train Programs
For owners who want accelerated results and immersive training, our Board and Train programs provide structured, distraction-based training while your dog stays with a professional trainer. These programs are designed to build strong obedience foundations and improve reliability around real-world distractions across multiple environments. After completion, you’ll receive an owner transfer session so you understand exactly how to maintain your dog’s training at home.
Puppy Training Programs
Starting early sets the tone for your dog’s entire life. Our puppy program includes a Puppy Training Consultation designed to help you raise your puppy with better structure and fewer problem habits. Topics commonly include potty training guidance, socialization, confidence building, environmental desensitization, and early foundational commands.
Private Dog Training Lessons
Private lessons are ideal when you want personalized coaching and a plan tailored to your dog’s needs. These one-on-one sessions can help with obedience basics, leash manners, household behaviors, and follow-through around distractions. We also offer single lessons and multi-lesson options for owners who want steady progress over time.
Positive Reinforcement
Marker-Based Training (Basic Marker Mastery™)
For owners who place a high value on positive reinforcement and want a reward-based approach, we offer Basic Marker Mastery™, a structured program focused on marker training. This option is designed to strengthen communication, build engagement, and teach skills using clear reward timing and consistency.
Aggression, Reactivity, and Behavior Modification Training
Some dogs need more than basic obedience. For fear-based behaviors, reactivity, aggression, or other serious concerns, we offer specialized training designed to improve safety, structure, and long-term behavior change. This type of training is customized and focuses on creating clearer decision-making for your dog and more confident handling for you.

Our Rottweiler/Coonhound mix, Apollo, went through the program at 6½ months old, and now at 8 months he's still retaining everything he learned. His recall is excellent, which was our biggest goal since we have a large unfenced backyard. He also has a great sit, down, place, heel, and now walks calmly on a loose leash. The biggest difference has been his confidence. He used to be afraid of loud noises, other dogs, and even going outside after dark. Now he's much more confident, and we can even take him to pet-friendly stores without worrying because he listens so well. Dylan was an awesome trainer and kept us updated every day with texts, photos, and videos, which gave us so much peace of mind. We couldn't be happier with the results and would absolutely recommend this program!Posted on Google Tchr LMNTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dylan did such a good job working with our dog Ranger! He and Michelle treated Ranger like family. Before training it was hard to go on walks with him, because he would bark at everything and it made others feel uncomfortable. Now Ranger is no longer scared on walks, and doesn't bark anymore. Ranger was also afraid to jump on objects, but now he enjoys jumping up on our couch and relaxing with a favorite toy. I would highly recommend Dylan, he truly cared about our dog as much as we do!Posted on Google Nicole LeBoutillierTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We couldn’t be happier with the results from Lily’s 2-week training program! Our Goldendoodle came home more confident, responsive, and well-behaved, and it’s made such a difference for our whole family. The trainers were knowledgeable, professional, and clearly cared about Lily every step of the way with daily reports, photos, and videos. They kept us informed throughout the process and gave us the tools we needed to continue reinforcing her training at home. If you’re looking for expert dog training with real results, we would absolutely recommend them to anyone. Thank you for taking such great care of Lily!Posted on Google Stephanie ChandlerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. If there was a higher score, I would use it! Michelle and Dylan were absolutely amazing with my 1.5 Morkie who had LOTS of energy and NO interest in listening. He was treated like he would as a dog in a regular home. He was exposed to everything a dog would normally experience and then some. Taking him to parks and stores, etc. He was able to interact with dogs, cats, babies, etc. Every day I was sent updates verbally and with pictures and videos. I was floored at how quickly he started listening! Incredibly kind, very available and loves your dog as much I would and my dog was genuinely as excited to see Michelle as he was me if we walked into a room. I would, without hesitation, recommend Michelle and Dylan at Off Leash K9 Training to ANYONE.. no matter how hard you think your dog might be to train. They will be loved and forever changed in the best way. Also, I'm pretty sure my dog wants to go back for more park time!Posted on Google Taylor BuskeyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Edit: Coming back over 6 years later to report that my now 7 year old guy is still a fantastic puppy citizen! I have contacted Michelle several times over the years with various questions and concerns, and she has always responded quickly with helpful advice curated specifically to my dog and his quirks. My dog has lived nearly his entire life with off leash freedom because of Off Leash K9 Training Toledo and I couldn’t be happier with my decision to trust them with my puppy back in 2019! We have since moved away from Toledo, but will absolutely be traveling back to take any future dogs to them for training - they are the best of the best!! Original Review: I had my large 7 month old Goldendoodle do a board and train with Michelle and Dylan about a month ago and couldn’t be more thrilled with the results! He was reactive to everything, easily distracted, pulled on the leash, and thought most commands were optional. He came home with a perfect heel, could walk past other dogs/people and completely ignore them, and listens to commands now. During the two weeks they had my pup, they sent me updates with photos and videos every day and treated my dog like one of their own. Even over a month after training, they’re still happy to answer all of my questions and help with whatever we need! We couldn’t have had a better experience!!Posted on Google Scott SanzenbacherTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I won't bury the lede (as though a five star review makes that possible): getting this training changed the entire dynamic in my home and I see new improvements almost daily still, even a couple of months in. I can see how that will continue in time. My ten year old dog (Mason) grew up in a house with anxiety and, as a result, had no real socialization. He's not gotten along with one of my two cats cats historically, as hissing would trigger him. It wasn't safe for either of them. I've understood for a long time that I had control over this when he was growing up, but I didn't realize I could help him with the change. A previous dog I'd had when he was born until just last year had similar issues, but to a lesser degree, and a different local place had told me she was a lost cause after we'd purchased an entire package for training so we didn't finish. We only got so far as sitting on a bench with her at Wildwood far from everything. As a result, though, I thought that my dog Mason could especially not be changed as his issues were worse. I was wrong. I paid for the aggression training at Off-Leash. We went through the basic training and that was plenty sufficient. Mason's always looked to me for guidance, but I've not known how to make him feel truly safe. Learning a couple of specific commands, and understanding that they offer him a feeling of safety, was key. Additionally, I'm neurodivergent and generally do best with very clear instruction. Rebecca was incredible in this context and knew just how to communicate with me. Identifying and correcting my own frantic tendencies during training did so much to help. The entire house feels safer. I thought I was close with Mason, but it's different now. He trusts me. And he should. I'm so grateful for this training. If you have any doubts about the viability of dog training in your situation, as long as you can follow through on regular walks and trips out to the store and whatnot, I assure you dogs can be helped. Of note: I intentionally waited for this review until what would have been the end of the Advanced training. What I mentioned about continual growth seems to be a pattern so I wanted to wait a bit after we completed training to write review so I could have enough information to be confident in the results, not just the training.Posted on Google Harley’s Total LandscapeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. They did absolutely amazing with my puppy!Posted on Google Buckeye NutTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our 8 month old Molly just completed a 2 week board & train with Dylan and she is so much fun now to walk at the nearby park and on the boardwalk and behaves without jumping and pulling to meet people and dogs. Guests aren’t mulled anymore either ! She comes every time told to and does “place” and other commands so well. And we could see she loved Dylan so much that we were afraid she’d want to stay with him permanently. He’s a pawsitive and consistent trainer. Before training she would get the wildest zoomies and was so hard to settle down but now we just say “Molly, no” quickly, firmly, not harshly, and without yelling and she stops!!!! I can’t say enough about all the great improvement in her obedience and much much calmer demeanor in so many situations. Thank you so much, Dylan, Michelle, and Off Leash K9 Training - Toledo, Ohio! My husband and I tell each other everyday now we did the right thing for Molly and for us!!!!Posted on Google Martha KrassowTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had a very good experience with Rebecca. My dog Tilly and I had eight private lessons. Three of the lessons were off site, which helped in getting her used to lots of distractions. Rebecca offered many helpful suggestions, and always had good answers to all my questions.Posted on Google Shannon ArmstrongTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Best training! Rebecca was awesome - great communication and pictures. Milk is a new man!!!! Thanks so much
